The Analysis of the Effects that the Supportive Nursing Interventions have on the Feeding behavior and the Variables of T P B

Abstract
The purposes of this study were as follows:
@EN 1) to analvse the effects that the supportive nursing intervention have on the TPB variables of each feeding-behavior, the intention of Breast-Feeding and the degree of performance of Breast-Feeding. 2) to survey the correlation of varibles,
the
causal relations of variables and the predictive power of variables in order to test if the Breast-Feeding behaviors can be explained and predicted by the Theory of Planned Behavior(TPB).
The design of this study was the quasi-experimental research design. The subject of this study was 66 pregnant women at the 3rd stage of pregnancy, started on Jan 4 through June 30, 1994.
The data for this study were collected 3 times and the supportive nursing intervention was executed 3 times.
The analysis of collected data was executed by using SAS. The test for the hypotheses was made by using t-test. . And to test the theoretical model, Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, Path-analysis and stepwise-multiple regression analysis were
used.
@ES The result of this study were summarized as under:
@EN 1) the experimental group showed the higher intention to Breast-Feeding than the control kgroup, and the performance of Breast-Feeding was higher than that of the control group, thus the supportive nursing intervention for the behavior of
Breast-Feeding was effective to promote the degree of performance of Breast-Feeding (t£½14.37, p£½.0001).
2) the experimental group showed the higher score of the TPB variables in Breast-Feeding, thus the supportive nursing intervention for the behavior of Breast-Feeding was effective to promote the TPB variables of Breast-Feeding Behavior(t=16.23,
p=.0001)
3) this study helped test the conceptual model of TPB. It was found that the behavior of Breast-Feeding could be predicted by checking the preceding TPB variables and the two behaviors had their own causal relations. Accordingly, this study has
supported the usefulness of TPB. This study showed that the supportive nursing intervention for the behavior of Breast-Feeding is a effective nursing intervention that can promote the degree of preformance of Breast-Feeding behavior in
post-partum.
